Nhlanhla Mafu (born 15 March 1978) is a popular fashion icon and a successful musician. She has grown to be a big name in the music and fashion industry.

She is known to drop hit songs including Ulibambe and Ulingowami. The Babuyile hitmaker made headlines following her separation from her husband.

She and her husband decided to end their marriage of over 15 years.

Speaking of her fashion sense, she tells a lot about the beauty of African culture through her dressing. The household name has grown to a figure that many South Africans admire and respect.

Topping to her fame, she is a member of the Mafikizolo music group. The music duo was formed in the middle 90s, it consists of her (lead singer) and Theo Kgosinkwe (composer).

Tragically, the couple lost their only daughter to a road accident that left Thembinkosi’s mother in a battle for her life.

On December 7, 2009, their daughter gave up the ghost. The sad news came to the family as a big blow. Nhlanhla’s body showed that she was hurting as the legendary singer lost some amount of weight.

Death may have claimed the life of her daughter but not her memories. Nhlanhla loves and speaks of her daughter with affection.

Divorce

Unfortunately, Nhlanhla and her husband did not get a happy ever after ending their marital life.

Taking to social media she revealed to fans that she had separated from her husband. Though, she was grateful for Thembinkosi’s support for her and assisting to raise their children during their time as a married couple.

Twins

Musician Nhlanhla of the group Mafikizolo was expecting twins when she was involved in an accident. Unfortunately, the car crash claimed one of the children.

Her daughter Zinathi, who was the surviving twin was involved in a car accident in 2009. The unfortunate incident happened shortly before Christmas.

TK’s mother who was driving the little girl in her car crashed into a tree. The incident claimed the life of the girl while TK’s mother survived.

Son

Her son is trying to make a name for himself in the music scene by following his parents’ footsteps. Nkululeko is trying to create his legacy and is professionally known as Ciza.

The teenage afro-pop artist says “he is ready to take the industry by storm”. He dreams of uniting Africa through music and also take the continent to the world through his music.

Ciza is signed to the new label Top Boy Records under Top Entertainment Global. 

Mafikizolo

In 1996, Theo Kgosinkwe (composer) and Nhlanhla Nciza (lead singer) formed the music duo Mafikizolo.

They walked into the limelight for dropping several hits singles.

The next year after they formed the group, they dropped their self-titled album Mafikizolo (1997). Two years later another album followed which they titled Music Revolution (1999).

Their third and the best-selling album followed in 2000, they titled it Gate Crashers. The music group has been doing great and has taken home several awards.

The music duo has received 14 SAMA and 2 MTV Africa Music Awards.
